Fees, Costs and Pro Bono Services

The attorneys of Philip D. Burroughs & Associates, LLC, are keenly aware of the cost concerns regarding legal services. In fact, many individuals who need legal counsel or representation avoid calling or seeing an attorney because of the fear of the cost. We typically charge a reduced flat amount for initial consultations in order to become familiar with the client and the legal matter before an engagement agreement is reached.

Each fee agreement is discussed in advance with prospective clients and then set forth in writing for the client’s and attorney’s signatures.  Fee arrangments may be for a specified, set amount, an amount based on the time devoted to the representative, and in certain litigation matters, a percentage of the recovery received by the client.  There can be a mixture of fee arrangements depending upon the circumstances; regardless, it is our goal to set a reasonable fee for the legal representation and to be good stewards of our time and our clients’ resources, including keeping clients informed on the financial aspects of our legal services from the commencement to the end of a matter.

We also participate in pro bono legal service programs and in certain cases, provide our services to clients in need on a minimum or no charge basis. We believe that justice demands that legal services, when needed, should be available to all people regardless of their economic status. If we are unable to provide counsel in certain cases, we attempt to put the individual in contact with free legal services organizations, pro bono programs and attorneys who may, at the time, be able to provide legal services at a reduced cost.
